Autumn Olive Farms is an award winning small family farm located north of Waynesboro in the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Since 2008 AOF has been synonymous with quality, consistency, integrity, and innovation in every facet of what we do. This is important to us both as a family and a business.
We raise and sell several heritage breeds of animals from farrow to finish. These breeds are chosen for their long established history of unmatched qualities in taste, marbling, fat, nutrition, and yields that have been lost due to conformity to commodity farming. These breeds and their ample fats allow for the old world utilization of culinary practices and charcuterie that aren't possible with modern breeds and commodity farming. These meats when fresh are fantastic, and when in the hands of talented artisans you can create something world class. We love to see the passion our customers have when our products enable them to explore their creativity and rethink what is possible. We are honored by having Michelin 1-3 Star restaurants as weekly customers as well as having our meats featured over a dozen times at the James Beard House, and other renowned restaurants weekly throughout the mid-Atlantic. Notable establishments would be the Michelin and James Bear award winning Restaurants and Chefs. Most notable among them would be The Inn at Little Washington with 3 Stars, as well as Michelin Star repeat winners, The Dabney, and Tail Up Goat. All of our customers are terrific and make us proud. They make sure that our products are in the best places!
Since our start we have been constantly learning and innovating methods to bring you the best heritage bred meat that Virginia has to offer. We may pursue other avenues of farming such as gardens to feed our family but AOF is really focused on being an industry leading specialist raising, developing, and providing the highest quality meats. Our goal is not to farm a variety of mediocrity, but rather specialize in raising and providing the finest heritage bred meats possible that evokes creativity and restores passion in culinary art. Maintaining consistency at a high level of expectation is another pivotal attribute we work diligently to maintain. We want our products to enable a culinary experience that is just as satisfying time after time.
In 2011 we made a commitment to process and provide hand selected animals weekly to chefs, butchers, and establishments across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. We pride ourselves in dedicated customer service that helps us grow to serve our customers better, while strengthening their relationship with AOF and our products. Providing the best animal welfare and care is nonnegotiable in the practices of this farm. Animal abuse is simply unnecessary and therefore inexcusable. The relaxed nature and pleasant demeanor of all the animals on our farm tells the story of the lives they live and the treatment they are subject to. Care is apparent in the details of what we do in every step of the way. That includes everything from breeding, farrowing, transporting, processing, and delivery. We have a great respect and care for these animals and that shouldn't end at the processor.
