Job Description:
Autumn Olive Farms is a family owned and operated farm in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley raising and producing heritage breed pork that is sold and self distributed to restaurants and retail spaces in Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland. We pride ourselves on operating a farrow to finish farm, raising pigs outdoors with regenerative land management practices in an effort to produce the highest quality pork that we can bring to a large number of customers in our region. The ideal candidate will have passion for working outdoors with livestock and the land, striving to improve the health and quality of both. We strive to be the leaders in our field and seek someone with the ambition to pursue that with us.
About the Position:

Key Duties:
Working with animals daily, ensuring their health, supplying feed, water, bedding and more.
Must be comfortable working closely with animals.
Monitoring and reporting the status of animals' wellbeing daily.
General farm infrastructure work, installing and maintaining fences, gates, animal housing, food and water dispensing units.
General landscaping work in an agricultural setting.
General light construction work in an agricultural setting.
The operation of tractors and tractor implements, heavy duty trucks, pickup trucks, rtv’s, atv’s and mowers.
Operate light equipment such as weedeaters, brush cutters and chainsaws.
Inspect equipment before operation and be responsible for notifying supervisors when in need of service or repair.
Perform equipment maintenance as directed.
Follow safe operating procedures, maintain safety policies to safeguard personal safety, team members safety, company property and environmental safety.
Additional tasks as required by site management.
Requirements:
Previous experience in farm or other work in an outdoor setting.
Disciplined work ethic, accountability, follow-through.
Ability to work alone without constant supervision.
Working conditions vary based on weather and can be cold, hot, wet, windy, slippery or perfect. Must be comfortable working in inclement weather.
Some farm work involves exposure to hazardous conditions.
Frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel and crouch.
Frequent walking and bending is required.
Frequent lifting and moving of up to 50lbs.
Must be able to work 40-50 hours per week
Must be able to work a flexible schedule with possible weekends.
